Citadel fort, Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Citadel is an historic fortification of Halifax. Exceptional views of the city. In the background is a huge cargo ship passing out to sea. Halifax has always been a strategic port for the British empire throughout history, even the 1st and 2nd world wars and is still a very active international harbour today.

Even though I have no interest in war related things the Citadel guided tour explained historic stuff and all that!! cos it's pretty old compared to most things here. They also demonstrated guns being fired.

We are now officially old fogies as we bought annual membership of Parks Canada which allows entrance into national monuments and parks. So went travelling around we dont' have to pay the $10plus fees to travel through parks (that soon mounts up) and as it's a family membership we can get friends/family in free too.
