Montreal
Ikea was a favourite retailing excursion in the UK, so joy of joy there's a store in Montreal. Home of Quebec French. If you've no understanding of French you'll get stuck here as all the signs are in French, yet people often do understand English and French. I (Linzi) practised my school-day learnt French. Quite fun. I was even told that I sounded like a genuine French speaker!
Montreal really does look and feel like a French city especially in the old quarter.
Linzi by the RV outside Ikea. Prices were quite a lot higher than the UK ones, yet it was nice to be in such familiar surroundings.
We travelled on the le Metro to visit Centre d'Histoire de Montreal with it's collection of 2,500 artifacts as well as photographs and models covering the period from 1535 to the 20th century. Very interesting and written in English so we spent hours here. http://ville.montreal.qc.ca/portal/page?_pageid=2497,3088440&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
